Foreign Exchange in Kenya

The Kenya currency is the shilling (KES or Ksh) and is what is used all over. I kenya shilling is equal to 100 cents.

Kenya currency is found in the following denominations

0.50 cents coin 1 shilling coin 5 shilling coin 10 shilling coin 20 shilling coin 50 shilling note

100 shilling note 200 shilling note 500 shilling note 1000 shilling note

A few shops at the airport, major hotels and most tour operators also accept major international currencies such as the Euro, US dollar and Sterlling pound.

There are plenty of foreign Exchange bureau's where one can change foreign currency including the banks however banks exchange rates are usually plus or minus 5 shillings depending on weather you are buying or selling.

Credit cards are also acceptable at major retail outlets in Kenya.
