Meru National Park

The Meru National Park has been a hive of activity as Kenya Wildlife Service with funding from the French Development Agency and the International Fund for Animal Welfare, moves to revive it. Roads have been constructed in the park at a cost of over Kenya shillings 251 million while shillings 262 million has been used to construct staff houses for game rangers. Also a 43 kilometer electric fence to reduce human/ wildlife conflict has been put up at a cost of shillings 35 million. Investors are now preparing to snap up the investment opportunities in the sites that will be set aside for development in this conservation area. All eligible investors will have an opportunity to put up lodges, tented camps and other products for tourists.

About this park

The Park is located in the Meru NOrth District Eastern Province and is about 348 Km from Nairobi and was gazzeted on the 18th of December 1966. It covers an acreage of about 870 km2. It has an agro-ecological zone climate. It is service by three airstrips Mulika, Kina and Masandukuni. Ity has a number of access gates mainly Murera Gate, Ura gate. Bisanadi gate, Tan Bridge, Kanjoo gate, Mulika and Elsa Kopje gate.
